I recently picked up this 1897-O barber dime that was offered for sale by a major dealer. Looking for opinions on 1) grade 2) originality 3) value.

You could probably find this pic online, but that would take the fun out of it. 10c 1897-O.jpg 10c 1897-O Rev.jpg

    Thanks!

All that dark stuff in the crevices makes me think it's had some kind of cleaning. A few hairlines too. But not bad looking. JMHO.
I'm interested to see what they called it.

    Edit - I'll guess EF45

Maybe... See additional pic below. I'll post an image of the full slab once a few more weigh in.

It looks like a cleaned 58 to me IMHO. Nice looking coin.

XF'ish to me.......total lack of any luster (at least expressed by the pics).

I am not a barber dime expert, and I am still learning to grade. I would go XF40.

I think it’s an original au 55. I bet it looks better in hand

    First thought was XF 45

And I also noticed the dark stuff in the crevices, which could suggest it was cleaned (or at the very least dipped).

I think it looks ok overall, but it’s not a coin that I would pay a premium for (others might feel differently though).

A series I have. I'll say PCGS AU55. The New Orleans Mint was notorious for weak strikes, so I could be off a point. The only things I see keeping it from mint state are scattered ticks, especially on the lower cheek. Overall, I like the specimen you've settled on. The photos most likely don't do this one much justice.
