Hello Cointalk, This coin appears to have split serifs in several places. Mostly on the obverse, but one on the reverse as well. It is very clear with a loupe, but hard to get good pictures. Also wondering about the weird texture at the edges of the "U" and "N". Any feedback would be much appreciated! Thank you!
I can see the split serifs quite clearly, but there are at least 10 DDO's for the proof coin that I am aware of. Perhaps someone with more knowledge of the Ikes will chime in. ~ Chris
Can someone comment on the rarity of doubling on both sides of this particular coin? I looked at Wexlers, but don't find the same error. Any suggestions for finding the right DDO/DDR number?
nice pics through plastic and all. Hard to do! Proofs especially can play "reflection" havoc on a digital pic making a common coin look doubled and tripled.. Doesnt look like you are experiencing that though. Await some expert opinion. Chris is excellent and him saying he sees legit split is a very positive thing for certain.
There's two SDRs for this year . http://varietyvista.com/Variety Master Listings/eisenhower doubled dies.htm#_1972
William...listen to Rick on this coin. He knows Kennedy better than anyone around. Follow his advice.
Thank you Rick! Your replies are very helpful! Do you believe there is any reason to have this graded?
I'd keep it in a air tight container . I like to look and hold my coins . But I do have cherrypicker coins, graded and slabbed ..
