They sure look like the same coin but it’s hard to find any similar markings to solidify them as the same exact coin although the toning seems to be identical. A reverse photo in the album would increase the odds of it being the exact coin.

As far as AT vs NT. I think there is no way that coin toned “naturally” in the last 9 years to that level. It was likely helped along wether it was the album, heat, or a combination of the two. The fact that it doesn’t reside in an AT doesn’t necessarily mean it isn’t AT. It either means that the TPG deemed it market acceptable or it was submitted enough times to pass through the cracks and get into a slab without AT designated.

Another clue as it being helped in my opinion is the fact there are just random dates in an American Eagle album. It seems they were placed there to create a toning with odds that maybe one will come out decent.

Cooked. 9 years to achieve that kind of toning. The experts will say that the toning is acceptable but I don't buy it.....

I wouldn't call it normal. A little sodium sulfite to produce H2S in vacuum and we're off to eBay for most$$ type. IMO, Jim

Could be the same coin, but looks like AT to me...
Edit: I believe showing it in an album is just a ruse to make it look like album toning. That looks nothing like album toning.

yeah it looks very AT but not sure why PCGS let it certified.

The PCGS example looks AT and so do the top three in the album (the PCGS might be the same coin as the album, but it is hard to confirm).

PCGS has really dropped the ball on Silver Eagles. That is one type of coin where I’ve seen the most examples of blatant AT in straight graded holders (and that does not even include the gassed holders). Now they will occasionally detail a bunch (a person recently posted a submission of 34 where all went Questionable Color), but there are already too many that got by and more continue to do so.

There are naturally toned Eagles and one shouldn’t avoid them, but it is best to be extra cautious with toned Silver Eagles in general.

Gotta agree it's not a naturally toned coin at all! Shoved in a potato with some Wesson on it and thrown in the oven! laughhard.gif Heat at 475 degrees for 20 minutes! j/k, I have no idea! laughhard.gif

I thought I could get it for $100, but now it's not even close.

Ebay is the best place to sell these AT eagles. Crazy amount of money people will pay for these. Looks like a bidding war.

Yes, but some toning is beautiful to look at. My avatar for example. Warms my heart and eyes. :):cat::cat::cat:
