Found a 1960 D penny the picture showing the doubling in Wexler's matches but I can't find any of the listed markers. Anyone got any ideas why that is? Thanks for any ideas. I'm including a screenshot of the coin in Wexler's and the description. "Trying to learn something new every day"
I've drawn lines to show the spot that Wexler's verified the doubling on the coin sent them and I've drawn lines on the picture I took of the coin I found to me they look the same. My problem was the lack of matching die markers but I had a similar problem and the DDR I found awhile back. "Trying to learn something new every day" Oops it accidentally put the pictures in twice and can't figure out how to fix it.
Need a clearer picture of the obverse and reverse. Also a close picture of the date and mint mark would help diagnosis.
I see the similarity in the "E' but also notice how the letters are pulling away from the rim in your example, signs of a worn die, and the wear coupled with the worn die strike may be obliterating any of the markers needed to verify.
Yes to a worn die as the letters on your coin and Wexlers example are similar but they do not match correctly.
