Would you look at that? I picked this out of the gas station take a penny/leave a penny tray. On this occasion I was “taking” but the clerk, who’s always delightful, didn’t charge me for my drink and then proceeded to give me permission because she knows I try to pick a bit. Kinda looks like doubling particularly most of the obverse, but thought I’d share it here to see what the pros think. Maybe it’s just MD or a million other things lol
Sorry, I'm not seeing it with these pics. But there does appear to be a ridge ring forming on the obverse at the top which could give an effect similar to doubling from a worn die.
I see a bit of doubling but I’ve never found a double die coin... (Was that an Ed Bassmaster reference? )
It doesn't work that way. First it's not legal. Second, copper cents are alloyed they are not Grade A copper, and you will receive 25% of the spot price. Copper is $2.80 per pound has never in history been much higher than $4 and you would need it to be $6 to just break even melting copper. All the copper hoarders are in for a rude awakening.
Here’s some close ups but I dunno if they’re clear enough to help. I feel like it shows strong on LIBERTY
95% copper pennies are an alloy, and as such, are only worth about 25% of the price for Grade A copper. ~ Chris
Really? You don't have a small piggy bank? Or a change jar? There must be at least 1 Penny in there. Guess what? It's in your possession so you own it!
The first pics were clear enough. Its a zincoln Die deteriotation ... Plating stretch / split plating ...stuff like that
