I'd go into town and leave some on benches/walls, maybe those who pick them up might end up getting into collecting :D will at least make their day finding an ancient coin on a bench

I still keep mine in a plastic sealed container but I do not look at them very often as they are of course so battered and I cant help myself to throw them away. Though I have thought about reselling them as they are to try and get more stuff with them.

I don’t have any ancient coins and don’t know anything about them. So what exactly are culls? I collect silver and US coins. Thanks.

Culls or Junks are basically coins that have really have heavy wear or damage to them. Wording is hard to read, chipped edges, holes, the green meanie disease. Unable to identify.

These qualify as junk. I show them to folks after asking, "What is the oldest coin you have ever held?" Most folks accept 100 - 200 AD for the ones on the left or 0 for the ones on the right.

One of two coins of the 60 on the left have part of a head and some lettering. A few more on the right have visible heads & crocs.

I've been slowly giving some away as well, to friends and such

@ancient coin hunter's lot showed up--it was a really generous gift (a couple dozen coins, mostly imperial, with a couple provincials and two Greeks), and, at least for this student, certainly not junk! He is now bragging to friends that he's going to the library to study ancient artifacts, and I've already had other students inquire about the course.

I'd also forgotten how long it takes to develop an eye for reading inscriptions on worn coins--but his struggle will all be worthwhile!

    Thanks, @ancient coin hunter .

I am lucky enough to have one niece and two nephews (triplets) all age 6. I give them all my "pirate coins" and some ancients so they can use them for show and tell or to throw at each other (that's what I would've done lol). But, other than that, I sometimes sell lots of them on eBay and then just use whatever I get to buy something I like. That way it keeps the learning process going for new members as well.
