I’m not a recent new collector, but I’d like to participe in your contest. And I promise if I win, I’ll sell the coin for a very very good price on Ebay to help someone.

Just reached a year since the collecting infection struck. No ancients yet in the heap although my son considers me one. The prize would find a good, loving and nurturing home in my Scandinavian hands.

I collected U.S. coins about 60 years ago and then stopped when I was 15. I have just turned 70 and in the last 4 months have restarted with U.S. coins again (so called dollars) but recently became utterly fascinated with the ancients. I ordered my first one (a coin from the era of Khushro II) and am just really starting to read and learn because the ancients are so broad an area and span so long a period in history and so wide a geographical swath. Plus the grading systems are different etc. All new to me but so interesting and exciting.

    Have a Happy New Year!!

I've been collecting for awhile and as it so happens I already have an Elagabalus AR Tetradrachm, so I don't qualify but you've made a very generous gesture here. I'll post my coin here.

    AR Tetradrachm, struck 218-220 A.D., 25mm 12.02 grams

Reverse: Eagle standing left, wreath in beak, star between legs, delta epsilon in field

    Before I get lynched :
Irony: the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.
Sarcasm: the use of remarks that clearly mean the opposite of what they say, made in order to to criticize something in a humorous way.
Sense of humor: a person's ability to perceive humor or appreciate a joke.

Purchased my first ancient last year. It was in a "what is it" bin. It shows Romulus and Remus. By far the oldest coin I own.

I'm new to ancients and I just began to some research from a few links posted in the ancients forum. The only one I own is a Widows Mite that was included in a auction with US coins. Very nice of you to think of newer people!

Please count me in! Not only do I not have an Elagabalus, I do not have any Roman Empire or provincial coin in nearly as wonderful condition as that one. Thanks and best wishes for 2020!
