194...what? Can easily eliminate all but the number 8, but there are problems with an 8 as well.

    Looks like heat damage. Could have been in the ground a while = environmental damage. Wait for other opinions...

    This looks like a 1941. Like spirtyoda said, it may have took heavy environmental damage. The coin you have has historic value but is only worth one cent.

    Wouldn't it be sad if a copper '43 looked like this

    I agree that it looks like 1943 as well, but that's probably doubtful.

    In any case, I love coins that are altered almost beyond recognition. This one qualifies. What a life that poor thing has had.

    In the condition that cent is in, what difference does the date make, unless it was 43 copper. LOL
