The fact that anything was left in Galveston after 1900 is amazing. Most people don't even know about the worst natural disaster to ever hit our country.

I saw a documentary about the Galveston storm just recently. You're right, it was the worst we've ever seen.

I got a chuckle with the line in your avatar, riff. "I ain't got time to bleed". Predator is one of my all time favorite movies. Right up there with the reply "You got time to duck?" and They're dug in like an Alabama tick."Classic lines. :D

I was obsessed with Predator when I was a young teen. Predator and Aliens as a matter of fact. And then they went and combined the two putting a stain on the legacy of both films.

I agree, riff. It ruined both originals for me too. It's a shame that Hollywood has to overplay their hand so often.

A would mean Artillery. That style button would be War of 1812 to pre civil war. Check dates for that Scovill back mark to narrow it down. War time buttons are worth more. Comparing the price of an 1812 military button to an 1812 coin you will be amazed. Great find.

I did. The Back Mark is the original Leavenworth Hayden Scovill war issue 1811-13 found here http://www.americancivilwarrelics.com/Z2780.htm I am hoping to turn it into coins. I don't collect military relics, but I do collect coins. They only used one L in Scovil for some reason.

A fantastic trip provided by a very curious and generous collector. Love that piece.
Thanks for posting. I know I came to this late but I certainly agree that it was a button. Cool beans.
