Sorry I took so long to get this last one up, but here it goes. This round is going to go slightly different than the last. Rather than just putting up a picture and making you ID from that, I'm going to give a complete description, or at least as complete as I can get. Plus, you will have FOUR coins to choose from! Whats the catch, you ask? These are coins that I haven't found an attribution for these yet. Whoever sends me what I deem to be an accurate attribution wins the round. Above all, BE PRECISE! And, as usual, PM me with the answers. 1. AE 23mm Obv: bearded head of Zeus r. Rev: biga driven r., victory flying above crowning driver, Greek lettering below. Tip: check Syracuse. 2. AE 10mm Obv: female? head r. Rev: horse feeding left OR (when inverted) galley Tip: perhaps Larissa or perhaps somewhere in Phoenicia 3. AE 18mm Obverse: (cuirassed?) laureate bust r. Reverse: river god (?) reclining l., dolphin above (?) WN (?) Tip: Roman Provincial. 4. obv: branch crossed with spears. LIBERTAS 164(?) rev: shield topped by crown, 1642 in shield, HENb or HENR Tip: not ancient, but still counts.
Sorry just curious is that green stuff on the no. 2 coin normal for ancients , or is it akin to virdigis . rzage
Thats patina. Its a bit thick on this specimen, but without it, you'd be looking at a pitted, shining piece of junk.
Just saw the Round 3 posting- I'll give it a try. It's probably way beyond my skill set but I'm having fun learning. Give me a few days. Andy
learningNow you did it. I might not win but I will know about the GREEK coins. You started me looking and reading about them That is what my Eyes look like. Thanks for the education.
