    Hello CT!

I have begun my quest to collect all of the key dates and semi key dates for the Lincoln Cent. So far I have:

    1909-S - PCGS MS62BN - Key Date
    1909 VDB - Raw
    1910-S - PCGS MS63RB - Semi Key Date
    1911-S - PCGS MS63BN - Semi Key Date
    1914-D - Raw - Key Date
    1917-S - Raw
    1931-S - PCGS MS64BN - Key Date

If I am correct, I still need:

    1909 S VDB - Key Date
    1912 S - Semi-Key Date
    1913 S - Semi-Key Date
    1914 S - Semi-Key Date
    1915 S - Semi-Key Date
    1924 D - Semi-Key Date
    1926 S - Semi-Key Date

I started off quick because I set aside Christmas bonus money for this but now it'll be a slower process. Hoping to have all key dates and semi keys dates in MS60 or better condition by the end of 2020.

Give us the 1914 D results when you get it back from PCGS. You sent it to them correct?

I am going to, yes. Although, I am still likely to purchase a PCGS graded one. Unlikely that the 1909 S VDB or the 1914 D will be a MS60 or higher just due to the very high cost of them. Will likely shoot for low AU on them.

The 1922 Plain, strong reverse, is considered a key date by many collectors. Even the 1922 weak D is a bit expensive in MS 60. Are you also considering doubled die cents?

I had heard that the 1922 plain was a good one to have too.

Not sure if I am looking for double die cents right now or not. Have not fully decided. I'm sure I will once I finish the key dates and semi key dates.

I would consider the 22-D, 31-D, 32-D, and 33-D cents to all be semi-keys as well.

Best wishes on your venture. It will be on the costly side. You may want to add a 1922 plain and watch out for the fake 1914-D Cents.

The 1923-S is also a semi key but it looks like you already have one.

It looks like you're putting together a high grade set. If it was me I'd be picky with the 20's S and D mint coins. Due to worn master hubs most look pretty boring, even at high grades. That said, some of the first struck from a new die are a cut above the rest. I've seen some AU examples that show better than later die stage MS ones. Since they aren't MS coins you can get them at reasonable prices.

The 1922 Plain is in many albums.
Also, the 1955 Double Die. Many other lesser known so called errors exist, but 1955 was a biggie.
Most of the lesser rarities are readily obtainable.
