Can anyone tell me how rare a sliver candian quarter is worth? And yes it is sliver. I got that check. Also the penny? Thank you
Both of these are post-mint damage (PMD) using nippers of some sort. It also appears that the quarter was scraped and hammered. I guess the perpetrator wanted to make sure that the reindeer was dead. In any event, the penny is only worth face value and the silver quarter is only worth melt value. ~ Chris
Cent - Post Mint Damage Quarter - Post Mint Damage also The Canadian is not a rare coin. Damaged is not collectable Silver Melt
You know what's super funny? I just got them verified this morning. Guess what! They are both die cracks. If they were done with tools. Both sides wouldnt be perfect and same lenth. Picture is of an penny broken by a tool. You can clearly see one side is different. I wish people who were knowledgeable actually commented.
You know what's not funny? Your lies. The coins you showed us first are not mint errors of any kind. If someone "verified" them then that person knows absolutely nothing about the minting process, how mint errors occur and how damage is created.
You received replies from people who are extremely knowledgeable of errors and the minting process, and have demonstrated that knowledge on this site numerous times helping new collectors learn. I don't understand why you felt the need to denigrate the people that were trying to help It is extremely obvious to anyone with a small amount of experience in collecting that your coins are damaged. You should check out the experience and credentials of the person who "verified" this for you. If they felt this was a true error, they know very little about numismatics and you should avoid listening to their opinions in the future.
Both are damaged and no way are they die cracks. We see these all the time. The Cent is a spender and the Canadian is worth about $4.00. I'm not sure of silvers price but Canadian coins are 80%.
Your picture clearly looks like all the other coins I've seen that snippers were used. A tool would not cause the damage you state but it definitely caused the damage you can see.

You can see where the edge of the "E" was damaged by the cut, most of the cut went between the letters. I know you wanted the coins to be something special, but they are clearly just damaged. No one is fooled by a claim that they were "verified". A die crack would be raised on the coin, not cut into it.
