1927 Italy 10 lire. I understand this guy on the obverse, Vittorio Emanuele III, was a bit of a numismatist himself, and may have contributed to some coin designs during his reign.

Simple but the combination of form and image is very appealing to me.

 

Love that Congo 2 franc, used it as my avatar for a while. This 1961 Italy 500 lire is rather artsy, think it is made of silver also.

 

Staying with the Quadriga theme, a Tetradrachm from Akragas c. 413-406 BC with the flying quadriga. I better stop posting this one....
