..that's exactly right Doug & @TIF ...Black will be the end result on the trip thru the rainbow..albeit a long journey
I dont generally collect silver, but I do absolutely love an attractively toned coin. I suspect this thread could go a long ways, as so far it seems others also appreciate toning. Here are some of mine, will have to break into two messages to get below the data allowance:
...i actually have a few underweight silver denari, but i have no doubt they are authentic..a few coins are like that, for one reason or another
Just to note that the Messana tet posted by @Ken Dorney is a Becker forgery. I am sure he knows, it is more for other collectors who might run into another copy of it.
Yep. I know. I've posted it a number of times before. I have one Becker and one Paduan in my collection, and love both of them.
I no longer have the coin pictured below but would like to post it because it had sensational toning .

For colorfully toned ancients, I've had a few. Of course toning doesn't have to be especially colorful to be attractive.
Since @jamesicus opened the door to non-ancients with that 1677 Charles II threepence, I will post my own Charles II crown. After some nicely toned medievals.
