My family draws names these days, so you only need to buy gifts for one adult outside of the kids. So, my one gift this year was a book that I’ve been meaning to buy for a long time. I’m very excited to get to coining time tonight.
I ended up getting several boxes of Liquer filled chocolates Colourfull Pjamnas/ Merrill Running shoes.... But wait, now for the good stuff! Two books on Medieval coinage And that new book on Electrum coins that I will get as a late Christmas present, its due to arrive Jan. 19th.
Sweet gifts everyone! No numismatic gifts here . . . . . . yet. Dotty was my big gift this year from my parents. I've been waiting a long time for her. We pick names in our house and my sister picked my name this year. She got me a Roku thing and put together a basket of everyday necessities, which was very much appreciated. I heard from one of Santa's elves that there is a coin related gift coming in the mail. So, if you're looking for me, I'll be at the mailbox for the next few days. Erin
Aww, he's so cute!!! Here's Herbert from the summer with his shed skin as a mustache: It's fun to take them outside. Maybe a leash would be a good birthday present. My nephew took this picture. Erin
A new addition to my household is Miss Abigail Regina. Although technically not a numismatic item, she seems very interested in Roman coins evidenced by the way she paws at the computer screen every time I'm checking out Vcoins!
My girlfriend gave me a very nice AE from Thessalonica with a ram reverse (I’ll post better pictures later, when I have a chance to attribute it), as well as a piece of Celtic ring money. My parents gave me an interesting book on religion in Roman Egypt, which will hopefully further elucidate Alexandrian iconography for me.
Not coin related, but ancient anyway - a Brazilian fossil of the extinct fish Vinctifer Comptoni, 21 inches long, 100 million years old, and I absolutely love it.
We remain only 3 at home this Christmas. My wife offered me a bottle of red wine. My daughter gifted me 100 dollars. She reads my mind.. But I love those ancients, especially gold ones that I can't afford. So I remembered those items which were offered to me for sale, nearly a month ago. They remain in my dreams, and fortunately in my photo albums. I wish to share 2 of them among my coin-friends at this happy season. They seem to include some religious hint.Hope I'm doing right
I got two coin display boxes from the family. Unfortunately, one of the boxes was labeled wrong in the store, so I got the wrong size. Will return it tomorrow. Another thing that I got is a solar powered light for outside which reacts to movement. For secturity reasons. I guess one has to think about that too, right?
I did rather well. I received a 5.5 cm bronze statue of Tyche unearthed in Turkey (originally from Noble Numismatics, Sydney), and a 20x Stereo LED Microscope.
