Question about 1918 French silver coinage

    Why are the 50 centimes and 2 franc coins made of .835 silver, but the 1 franc only .500? seems odd.

    The French could do whatever they wish.. even determine the silver content in their coins! C'est la vie! :smuggrin:

    Where are you seeing the 1F listed as 0.500 silver? My catalog and Numista both list it as 0.835
