Would really love to hear some thoughts on grade. Luster is really-really nice the only negative (I think) is that ding in the steps. What would be the effect?

    Thanks ~ Darryl

I'll take a stab and say MS-64, could be very well wrong though. Still, one thing I am sure of, is that is a nice coin! :thumb:

I agree...nice coin! The luster makes up for that small ding in the steps in my opinion.

Is it just the angle or the coin when i see a grease fill spot on the monticello on the right side of the roof line? (it is missing the roof in my eyes) but anyways, great coin!!!!! easy ms62 even with 1 or 2 digs, it is too glarry too really pin point it though.

Well the luster is GREAT! and I would only knock the grade out of the FS grade because of the dig on the steps. The ding doesn't hurt it in my eyes nearly as much as the week strike....you can see that in the hair above the ear. In most cases I think Silver tends to have a stronger strike than what I'm seeing here.

All in all the coin is very nice---I would grade it an MS64.

Thanks everyone - 64 was where I was at too and I recognized the weak strike as well. I was a little sad to to see it in hand even though it's a great looking nickel it's probably the lowest grade of the group I have . The luster is what caught my eye and it's still a nice looking nickel that will do okay if I resell when I upgrade. Didn't know if the ding would affect it knocking it below what I was thinking about for the rest of the coin.

    Best Regards

    Darryl

BTW - just found a 45D in a roll :) - do love when that happens!

Hello' Daryl' with the lighting so high, it's really hard to see, if there's any marks or
scratches on it,,,an the only rough/spot (IMO) would be on the Obv on the collar-area. The Rev' looks awesome! A Full-Step really isn't there, as your aware of', but I think it's still a great looking 45-S Jeff',,,, Nice Find!

MS-63, unless the glare in the photo is covering up wear, in which case AU-55.
