So you found some circulated Lincoln Memorial cents while searching rolls..... I'm not sure why you're particularly pleased with these? Could you explain what is special about these or why you are happy about them? They are pennies worth about a $0.01 each.
I have a lot of respect for your knowledge and contributions to this site. You sure know a lot more about Numismatics than I'll ever know. I'll probably wind up on your s$%*list for this but why dampen a new members enthusiasm?
More importantly perhaps, why dampen a new collector's enthusiasm? Many of us got our start in this hobby by filling holes in Lincoln cent albums. It's sort of a rite of passage.
Im happy with the dates and quality of them because maybe i never paid attention to the quality of a penny until recently. Reguardless of value to another they have value to me. Im learning more by trial and error. Thanks
Question. I have a lot of 1990-2019 in amazing shape. Some are dark red. Is that not what to look for.?
Condition (Uncirculated), errors, nicely toned, and much more, are what most collectors of modern US coins look for. Or a coin to fill a empty space in a coin folder. Each collector has there own ideas of what to look for. Learn all you can before putting any significant money into the hobby. Start by buying a copy of the Red Book. Official title is "A Guide Book of United States Coins" by R.S. Yeoman Whitman Publishing. Very few modern coins have a large premium over face value. You should be in it for the fun because it's a very poor investment option. EDIT; I should add read all the posts on Coin Talk as it will add to your education. We have a lot of very knowledgeable members on this site.
