Merry Christmas to everyone!
My surprise package was a pleasant surprise for sure - (forgive the poor flip phone photo, but maybe my new 4G phone in 2020 will be better in that dept.)
Top row - 1952 France 50 francs, 1957 France 100 francs
Middle row - 1974D die clash cent, double struck cent planchet with 1994D visible, copper cent planchet, zinc cent planchet
Bottom row - set of 2009D territorial quarters.
I now have a starter set of US cent errors/planchets - thanks, secret Santa!

 

Here's what ol' SS sent Henry and I:
The bust half is my favorite and Henry obviously loved the half cent. It'll end up in his type book. SS definitely did some research to find our areas of interest.

 

My Secret Santa was super generous this year! As my name implies, I LOVE anything silver, and my Santa must have considered that. I received:
A 1921 P Morgan Dollar
A 1 ounce silver piece with a picture of the Nativity Scene (very cool item - hard to photograph)
A 1944 P half dollar
A 1/10th oz silver piece styled like the half dollar

These numismatic gifts are special to me, as they are the only coin-related things I get at Christmas.

I have to give kudos to my SS. I was a bit puzzled by the gift at first, but had to discover it as I went through it.

The item in the frame is an open letter to the members of the American Numismatic Association wishing them a “good meeting” in their 85th Convention in 1976. The letter is written on White House stationery and appears to be hand-signed by President Ford.
My SS seemed to do their homework. There is also a Jackie Robinson collectible and if you look at my signature file, you will see a Robinson quote which I believe to be quite profound.

There is also a 1967 SMS Nickel. I have recently talked about how under appreciated these coins are and that there are treasures to be found in these sets.

Also included were two copper ancients which I will research and add to my collection.

Admittedly, when I first opened it, I had no idea what to think. Now that I have had a chance to look it over, I am quite happy that I got this gift from this Santa.

A special thanks to another friend who played a “pseudo-secret” Santa, h8modern, who sent me 3 books a token and a silver proof Virginia quarter (my wife’s name)

H8modern is a really nice man who seems to know me and what I like, and so he sent me a gift of books which I will treasure. The ones on Barbers (qtrs and dimes) are fascinating! I have never seen them before, but I think I need to look for one on barber halves to complete the set.

I received a very nice 1960 Proof Franklin from my Santa this year. Merry Christmas Santa, thank you very much, and a Merry Christmas to all of you as well.

 

Inspired from Moses Fleetwood Walker undoubtedly. Go Dodgers, however my fav pitcher Ryu was traded to my 2nd fav team the Blue Jays just last week...uggg.

 

I've been making rather 'merry' for the last 24 hours. Christmas Eve was spent at my daughters house where a wonderful time was had by all present. Today, Christmas, I opened my package and the contents within warmed my heart. There was something shiny, something burnished and a few things worn, original, and with character. The shiney example was difficult to photog. Proof like, that dazzled my camera and befuddled my competence......I think I could have eventually gotten it (photog) right but I was in a rush to get things posted. Besides, I didn't want to miss out on the merriment of the day. You folks all carry Christmas in your hearts, as exhibited by the fine gifts that have been exchanged here. The generosity and benevolence has been astounding. The fellowship and camaraderie exudes, and the spirit of Christmas, I'm sure, will be carried all the year though till next the season comes. Merry Christmas my friends.

Shout out to my Secret Santa. A nice set of Kennedy’s and a hand poured bar. I love it.
