I am hoping that someone can tell me more about this coin, please? Greek ? AE (or Billon) 15.3mm., 3.75gm. Possibly Faustina II/River God ???? (I don't know) Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Lectistern reverse? Usually these are provincial Alexandrian but the border of dots on obverse makes me think it's Greek.
I don't think it's a Roman provincial-- definitely not Roman Egypt. Try Greek. Not sure of the reverse scene. It's hard to tell much about the obverse-- try reshooting, different lighting, better focus-- but I think the obverse figure may be wearing a petasos. Perhaps it is Hermes.
@TIF MERRY CHRISTMAS, and thank you. I will try different lighting (again). I have taken over 100 'shots' but what I can see doesn't show up in the photo for some reason. Now if my name was 'Doug Smit' . . . no problem. (Christmas (eve) dinner in a few hours, with family arriving, so maybe tomorrow.)
PeteB for the win! https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=6283799 Thrace, Odessos. Ca. 281-270 B.C. Æ (15 mm, 2.37 g). Diademed female head right / The Great God reclining left, on twin cushions, holding cornucopiae; upturned amphora to left. Topalov 6; SNG Copenhagen 669. Some catalogers call the obverse Apollo.
@PeteB FANTASTIC!! Thank you very much, and @TIF (as always) Thank you. Yaaaay! (And after a good couple of hours with the camera only to produce this . . .) I wish ALL of the C.T. members a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a safe and happy festive season. (A big 'Thank You' to all, for your assistance in 2019.)
