Offered at a public auction....lot of Seated Liberty Dollars. Can’t believe they didn’t even checked the obverse and reverse combinations knowing that the reverse motto didn’t appear until 1866... Any chance at all any of these are legit? (I don’t think so).
Not over, and have received bids already. I have emailed the auction firm expecting them to pull the lot.
Here is even another lot from the same auction. Only the one photo, but skeptical towards the trade dollars. Any comments?
All bad, except I can't definitively say that about the 1874 trade dollar. But I would assume it was fake as well, given this lot and the lack of professionalism from this auctioneer.
Really? I thought the left-hand one looked pretty bogus. The rim doesn't look right to me. Mostly, though, I'm suspicious of the company it keeps.
They have already pulled two lots. Not sure due to authenticity though. Expect them to pull the other ones too. I’ll get disappointed if they don’t. Quite unprofessional and will hurt reputation...
I'm going to have to vote all of them are fake. (And some are blatantly obvious, like the seated liberty dollars with mottos dated before 1866... the first year they were minted with a motto.)
