savitale, Your Athenian Owl is a jewel ! You paid dearly for the coin , but you now have a one in a million example .
Hard to know for sure without the measurements but I'm guessing a little of both. The reverse is complete as well suggesting a wide flan. From the number of flan cracks it looks like the coiner was really getting his aggression out that day so an unusually strong strike (or slightly hotter/weaker metal?) might have helped with that. It does look like the "compact portrait" type too.
