Disappointment... total disappointment... with the US 2008 Mint Proof set I had ordered. At first look one of the statehood quarters appeared to have a die-crack on the obverse at the top of L of Liberty. Closer examination proved otherwise. Plain and simple, there are several gouges and many scratches on this one coin. Most of the coins have scratches, some have gouges, and most of the presidential dollars have those coppery colored mist size spots. Even the Sacajawea has scratches. Are the presidential dollars suppose to have the golden metal around the side of the coin? These have nothing but a copper finish. I am returning the set for a replacement and hope they have a properly minted set to send back to me. Thanks for letting me vent. jeankay
jeankay Same thing happened to me with some Presidential Dollar Proofs. The first year Proof set was sold out, so I ordered individual Proofs and two of the four coins were badly scratched. You can get a refund or replacement. You can also get reimbursed for your return postage, save the reciepts. I recommend to call them, there is a 1800 number. Send them back!!!!! Presidential proofs should be gold, not copper. Harry
Well they sure should take care of it Jeankay. We just got ours in at the shop and they all look just fine. Looks like you got the lemon batch. Give em hell! clembo
Thanks Harryj and Clembo... I appreciate your understanding ears. If these were errors.. all of them?.. I would have second thoughts about sending them back. These coins should not have left the mint. No quality control? Tell you what, if the replacements come in the same condition I will call them and give them what little piece of my mind I still have remaining. jeankay
