When someone tries to move metal (Dremel, and such) to make a coin look better than it really is. Actually, it's damage.

And as a colloquial term.....we won't touch upon that, on this forum, with a ten foot pole.......

Thanks for your replies. I am returning to coin collecting and saw this term in some posts and was curios what it meant.

Someone uses a rotary tool and a fine wire brush to impart a lustrous appearance to a coin. Generally a deceptive effort to make a coin appear better to uninformed buyers. The luster will be spotted as unnatural by a knowledgable person.

Welcome to CT. It's a term that is used to make a coin look better than it really is. The coin in question has been whizzed by use of a hand held tool. Welcome to CT.

Not at all. It amazes me the skill and effort put forth by the person doing the whizzing. There is some serious time and misplaced skill put forth on a whizzed coin. Take a good look at the coin in @C-B-D link. At a glance these appear to be lovely coins.

This was whizzed many years ago. The ugly toning killed the fake luster in a short time.

It’s best described when I’m standing on a stream bank or the roof of a building and nature calls. Or what my wife’s dog thinks it’s ok to do in the house much to my unhappiness

It is damage and you will see it also termed as "smoothed" on some TPG labels.
