Hi All, I came across this coin that I believe is a 1950s-ish Chinese coin, but for some reason I can’t find it in my catalog. Anyone have any information they’d be able to share about this particular piece? It weighs 5.3g as well. Thank you in advance!
Since I can't read the coin I will guess : There is more writing on one side than you would normally expect to see and none on the other side, which doesn't seem normal. My guess is this is a good luck token, or maybe a fake coin, but, with myself having so little knowledge of these it could actually be real. So let's call on some more knowledgeable people : @Stork @Seattlite86 S86 , you know which members would know this coin, don't you?
Hi B.T. , I used your info to cross-reference it to NGC. There it calls it a 1928 "20 Cents" coin. Other things are the same 1 china-provincial-kwangtung-province-20-cents-y-426-171928-191930-cuid-1068407-duid-1287903 The top link looks funny, but it works. That's 2 different links.
@Hookman I do try to keep track of who knows what. Thanks for the tag; looks like this was solved quickly.
The numista link of Bradley Trotter is correct. The year is of Redrazzs coin is 18 八十 (八=8, 十=10), 1929. NGC is 七十 17, 1928 The value is 2 Jiao 貳毫 = 20 Fen (or 20 cent)
