Hello I have recently joined this page. I have been an avid coin Collector since my youth as well as my dad. I have not seen a coin like this. I is actually sandwich with the ribs/grooves inset. I will try to add another photo if I can. 20191219_095248.jpg 20191219_095354.jpg

First, welcome to the neighborhood, Brian!

It appears that some of the copper core has been eaten away by a mild acid or chemical. It is not a Mint error. We have seen similar coins posted here quite often.

Ok I was wondering. not sure seeing how all the ribs are there. Wouldnt acid eat away inconsistent. I should be able to check l that by weighing it shouldn't I ? Thank you.

The copper on the outer edge is very thin and the reeds of the collar extend deeper into the underlying layer.
