Have searched the interent but cannot come up with much as i have no idea what it says.

I can't tell what it says on the side with only two characters, but it looks like Qian Long 1736-1795. The reverse characters will tell the mint name. Can you get a better scan?

Thanks to another thread on here (collecting chinese ancient coins) i went onto a website i had not previously seen Zeno? and i think i may have found the coin, not 100% sure will have to do some further digging, but it looks almost identical to this one, not sure how i go about finding out if it is a fake coin or genuine though lol

I will try and get a better scan, i tried with my camera, but mine does not have a macro setting (apparently this takes better photos of coins) but i will try and get a better scan.

    Thanks

So do you think it is a genuine coin?

Thanks for all the help on identifying this, would anyone have any idea on the value, so my father in law can decide whether or not to keep or sell.

    Thanks

Think i just found it on the internet for $2 lol, i must say though i find it thrilling that i have seen a coin that old, think i may have to start collecting myself its really quite interesting.

Yeah, $2 is probably about right. But it just goes to show how affordable collecting can be!

Definately, a nice find though, have just telephoned him and asked hime where he got it from, but he has no idea, he has loads of unidentifiable coins, (well they are to me becasue most of them are in a foreign language)

Thanks for all the help today, i really appreciate it. :)

BOO CIOWAN" (Board of Revenue mint). The manchurian mint name translates to Pao-Ch'uan, or "The Fountain head of the Currency".

Managed to find the above information, i think this is the right coin, its from (if i am right) from the board of revenue mint in beijing, just in case anyone else gets one and they cant find it.

    Thanks again

The first side you showed, with Chinese characters, is upside down.

I'm not sure, but I think the Manchu side is also upside down.
