This makes the 3rd day in a row that I've found 1 wheat cent. First it was a '57 (and a war nickel), then it was a '51-D (and a star note), this time it's a '56. I work again tomorrow. Maybe I can keep this up?
Very cool. It's been a pretty good week for me as well. At my part time job last weekend I found 6 wheats and a 41' merc, today at my regular job an old gent paid cash and included a 43' merc. :thumb:
wow! I've never seen a Merc in change... I've found Wheats, Old Nickels, War Nickels (thanks to this job), silver Roosevelt, but never any Mercs or silver quarters. Today anyways, I did not find a Wheat Cent. I did however, find a 1940-p Nickel - which I did not have in my folder.
lol, its OK. Update, I was off work Thurs and Fri, but I'm back today. and with 2 wheats!! a 1958-d. and a 1948-S with LOADS of green on it. I actually put it in an ammonia-based cleaner to get some of it off - and it helped a little. lol
Penny jars everywhere are being spent these days due to gas prices I would imagine, your in a great spot to get them !!
You're telling me... I go back today - Im hoping for some Star Notes this time. lol but after today I dont go back in until Saturday! Think of all the stuff I'll miss out on!
The reason you are finding wheat cent's is because people are digging into there piggy bank's to make end's meet..
I found a 43' wheat at work over the weekend, plus a few one dollar star notes. The 43' was the first steel wheat I have found in circulation. The obverse is in pretty good shape, to bad the reverse is a little rough.
