Welcome to CT Samario , if you got them out of circulation , probably not , where did you get them ? rzage
I received them from my parents - I know my dad saved them when they came out. There were more, however, my sisters and I (we were alot younger), spent them at a fair. These were some that were "salvaged".
Samario, If you have a 1979 S it may be worth a little more. The S mintmark is to the lower left of susan b's portrait of the coin. There are two varieties of this coin, the filled S and the clear S. The clear s is has much more value as the US mint changed the dies in the later part of 1979. Check for the S mintmnark first. http://www.centercoin.com/coin_information/library/susan_b_anthony_dollars.htm http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art36630.asp
The different "S" mintmarks varieties that Harry is talking about on the 1979 only occurred in the proof coins. There is a 1979 business strike variety and those are the 1979 Near and Far Dates. One of Harry's links gives you some excellent info on these varieties. You can find the 79 near date readily available in circulation, but only high graded ones command a premium. I have found quite a few in my searches and they may bring a few dollars more depending on grade. Good luck and welcome to CT.
Well you have the start of a nice collection , you could look for the other years in circulation but it might be better to go to a local bank and see if they have any rolls for sale , it's all up to you where you want to go with collecting . Good luck . rzage
