Environmental Damage.. You can't get them to look the way the did when they were minted so don't even bother. Even Nickels which have no clad layer become affected to exposure to dirt, soil, sand and water. Here are my metal detected finds -
Only if you wish to spend it. Your coins have environmental damage, are common, spendable, and have little chance of satisfactory numismatic improvement due to so-called safe cleaning methods. Harsh cleaning will destroy the value of a collectible coin.
Damaged by the environment. It doesn't matter what you do with them they will always be worth face value. Welcome to CT.
I find these type of coins in my yard all the time. I have a pretty good idea how they got that way and where they are coming from. People walk their dogs all the time and they doo in our yard. After the dropping decompose over time, sometimes things are left behind. A lot of time it's coins. And being deposited that way and after a cold wet winter, this is exactly what the coins look like.
