when i first started collecting several years ago, i use to buy notes only to Put them away in some container or box, never being really to enjoy them So i started making high definition copies and putting them in frames and Hanging them on the wall, so that i can enjoy them everyday
So let's see. There is a comma in your subject line so I assume it is two different questions. What do I display - None of your business. My personal lifestyle choices are my own. What you collect - well, it should be "what DO you collect", but it is well-known that I collect German coins.
Yes I like that idea, I will have to try my new printer scanner I got for xmas. As you said my collection sits in a safe where only the microscopic dust can see what I have its too bad really, I used to collect waterfowl stamps block, And camillus made remington knives. I always wanted a glass case to display but never made or bought one. But it is to late now.
I wish I could display. I have four kids in a three bedroom and they will never, ever, leave. Of course I love them, but dang!
EASELS: I just bought some new 2.68" high easels from Amazon. They make holding the thicker and larger slabs much easier than my 1.5" and even the 2.25" holders. Probably really good for large-type currency, though providing extra support for small-sized, too. Now I just have to decide on the curio.....
Other than in hand I can think of no better way to enjoy my collections than images on the computer. To display anything of value is tempting fate. Safety deposit boxes (with insurance) are the way to go.
That's what insurance -- and wifi security cameras -- are for. I want to be able to enjoy my purchases and display them. But to each his own !
On a serious note, I do have some large size Tampa Nationals framed behind museum glass below B&W photos of the corresponding bank as they looked when the notes were circulating. The framing and museum glass were handled by JoAnns Craft store. All of my awards are in a different room....
MPCUSA: "when i first started collecting several years ago, i use to buy notes only to Put them away in some container or box, never being really to enjoy them So i started making high definition copies and putting them in frames and Hanging them on the wall, so that i can enjoy them everyday" You go on extended rants about people wanting graded coins, however, you display many graded notes. Interesting.
Two different things, my rants are in regards to " Graded Bullion" not graded Coins, i have many graded coins just none are bullion, sense most are gem anyway there is no reason to pay the big premium, that,s what i am talking about, to set the record straight.
If those asshats at photobucket hadn't ruined their hosting, I'd show you the view from my desk, currency, currency everywhere... framed on the walls, on the shelves... drowning in paper money.
