What grade do you think this SLQ would be?? Just the obverse my wife put in the wronr reverse , or grade them seperately . LOL I know this isn,t a Barber I'll post that when she shows me how to do it again . rzage
Well, here's a PCGS MS-66. http://cgi.ebay.com/1917-Standing-L...hash=item160256280510&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318 Yours looks better. Is that your coin? Certainly one of the best examples I've seen so far.
I just got it 2 weeks ago , after returning the 1st 2 he sent me , it's graded by PCGS . 1917 type 1 are the best struck of all the dates . The reverse on the bottom is one of the coins I returned . rzage
Nice coin, lots of detail definately a very high grade. Must have cost you some $$$. Just curious as to why the obverse seems to have a lot of "luster" while the reverse has much less luster. Is the obverse and reverse from the same coin?
Now let me see if I understand you correctly! The picture of the Reverse does not belong to the coin pictured on the top with the Obverse, right? If so, then I was correct in thinking that the Reverse definitely did not match the condition and beauty of the coin pictured on the top! Also, if both pictures are not of the same coin, then it would be nice to see how good the Reverse actually is on the coin in the top picture! Based on the Obverse picture only, I would say that it is an MS-65 FH and FS (Full Head and Full Shield)! A true beauty worth of any Collection! Frank
2 Different Coins Harry , you're right the 2 pictures are from 2 different coins , I stink at computers so I had my wife try & show me how to post a picture , I told her what pictures to put up , I thought I only saved the pictures of the coin I had bought , well I saved pictures of 2 coins , funny how pictures can decieve as both looked great in the pictures but the bottom one was a lot darker & spotted in hand . To make a long story short , as soon as the pictures were up , my wife was gone , & I didn't remember what she did , sorry for the inconvinence , But I love when people share their coins and play the grading game , so I was excited that I finally could share , both coins actually grade the same . rzage:goof::hatch::hammer:
If that is the case, the the bottom coin is either overgraded or the top coin is undergraded! Could you elaborate on the grade? Frank
They are both PCGS MS-64-FH , buy the coin not the slab . I personaly feel , top coin should grade MS-65-FH , its amazing how photography can show or not show different things , also there's quite a difference in 64-FH & 65-FH prices , paid $695 for the top coin . a 65-FH is around $1,400 , rzage
Clearly a full head, but why only a 64? From the obverse, it's tough to find problems with the coin...maybe just a few non-distracting marks in not to important fields? I would have thought this to be a candidate for a 66, maybe higher. Nice one!
I think on regrade it might go 65 this is in an old PCGS holder maybe they were tightening down on the grades at this time , also there's a hit on her neck that can't be seen on this picture , but if you put it at a certain angle you can see it , not really a hit but more like a shallow scrape , still I bought it because of the full strike , & 17-P-Type 1s are known for their good strikes . Thanks , glad you like it as much as I do . rzage rzage
