Just got back from our December Coin Club Meeting. Every month we have a door prize purchased by the Club from membership dues, usually an item worth $10-$20. In December, the door prize is a gold coin, and the number of chances to win is based on how many meetings you attended that year. Well, I won it for the 2nd straight year! A 1912 Indian to go along with my 1926 Indian from last year. The only 2 gold coins I own, lol! Here are pics of both coins.
Both are AUs, but the 1926 is much nicer than the 1912. The 1912 has quite a few hairlines and some scratches. You club has a generous prize. We give out a Silver Eagle and some common date Proof sets every month, members who help with our coin shows get a Silver Eagle for Christmas, and every member gets a free book at the Christmas party if they attend the meetings.
Great coin! I absolutely love this design. Unfortuantely I only have it on a copper 1oz round and a silver 1oz round.
Thank you John. The dealer/member that provided the 1926 did tell me it was AU. I forgot to ask his opinion of the 1912! Your club treats its members well! Thanks FF! I think the incuse design is cool. Can you post pictures of your coins?
Oh come on, I'm only suggesting you spend about $8000 to complete the set. That 1911-D is a killer but this is the only gold set an average collector like myself can afford to compete.
Nice score! At first when I saw the heading I thought you were going to show a 1912 Indian head penny that you bought on Alibaba.
My first reaction was that it was going to be something the Chinese had cooked up. I have a 1909 American Silver Eagle they made. To think that they anticipated that coin early in the last century!
