Okay, I found this in a roll I've had in the car for a good year, and just never cashed in. Well, I brought my loupe with me, and decided to go through it and see what I found. The date 1999 appears, so I check the reverse, and see this. So, what do y'all think? See pics:

    Tyler,

And you are the winner!!!!:smile:smile:smile:cool: Yes, it is a 1999-P "Wide AM" Lincoln Cent! Note the clear separation between the "A" and "M" in AMERICA and that the Designer's initials are almost touching the Memorial Building. There have been some 1999-P Lincoln Cents found with a clear (larger than normal) separation between the "A" and "M" but having the Designer's initials too far to the right of the Memorial Building that are not the "Wide AM" Variety. However, your's is and the diagnostics on your' Cent is the key to determining whether you have one or not!

Congrats and keep up the searching! Oh, Jack isn't going to be too happy that you found one before him!

SWEET! Thanks!!! I can't believe I found it, lol. Does anyone know the value for it being AU? I can only find MS-63, and there's just a bit of darkening that I believe is wear. Thanks so far!

Great job on finding the one so many are searching for. You will find that there are more people trying to buy that wide AM then there are ones to sell. I have seen collectors posting on ebay to buy one and there are no replys. Ken Potter has some listed on his site for $425 to $750, but I am not sure how old that listing is. So yes you have hit the jackpot with that wide AM 99. The 2009 Red Book has it listed at $500, but I believe that is a lot less then you could expect if selling.

Looks like a wide to me, PX; the regular issues are very very close to touching. If I saw this on the reverse of a '92-D, I'd throw it back, calling it wide. Good find. I've yet to be so lucky...

Great find Phoenix. I've been looking forever for one of these. No luck so far. But knowing they are out there keeps me going. And I would guess that few people would know about this type and know what to look for. I'm sure that many of these will float around for years before someone spots them.

    Tyler,

The values for the 1999-P "Wide AM" Cents are all over the place! The coin should bring over $200 but who knows with eBay. There have actually been some on eBay that went for higher prices than some MS specimens. It could have been due to the Seller, the ending Date and Time or just a bad time economically. You might want to hold on to it and see if the economy gets better or coins start selling better and for higher prices on eBay.

Thanks for all the replies! I still can't believe I found it. I'm not really into these guys (I just like looking. :D), so I'm going to sell it, and buy some other Lincoln's taht I'm interested in. Thanks for all the replies and congrats!!

That's a great find. You should get that slabbed. They sell for around $500 on eBay.
