I seriously thought of that, and I still may - depending how the coin comes back from NGC! Mentally I wanted two coins; one for the book, one to slab. I like the way you have them in the Dansco pages. I assume they are the blank pages? Ive been using the pre-printed one (with the proofs) - but Dansco is so slow in updating the pages. Apparently they have relocated. Very nice!

    @Tusky Ranger,
Thank you, yes I use blank pages, or if I have dated pages I just print a label for it.

When I was a younger man, I used to use the word "rape" for all sorts situations. Then one day I did that around a woman who had been raped. I don't do that anymore. This thread has changed the way I view one member and it isn't jwitten.

And then, of course, the complaint would be "you can only get desirable Mint issues if you're well-off enough to have a good broadband connection, don't have a job that prevents you from getting to the Internet at noon, etc, etc, etc."

If the Mint configured their servers to handle a rush like this, they would be wasting huge amounts of money, because surges like this happen at most once or twice a year. Yes, they could have done a better job on their error-handling pages. But configuring servers and connections with a hundred times the capacity you need for average loads, where the traffic spikes are very rare and don't involve life- or safety-critical activity, is poor design.

If the Mint cared about collectors they could have said nothing about this issue.

They could have issued them to the ASE collectors that are enrolled in the American Eagle Coin Program. For sale to them only, 1 per HH.

No website crash, no flippers, no ticked off collectors.
Just a bunch of happy loyal customers, imagine that.

Well my coin graded a 70 with NGC. So, I'll be honest - I'm a happy camper, and its not for sale LOL. I've never really "won" anything in my life; today I feel that I did. Not sure how many have been submitted to NGC but the ER-70 population was 278 at the time.

It looks like there have been 1451 graded at NGC with 1345 achieving ER70.

Yes, my bad. I was just coming back to correct myself! I guess 278 was for the Early Releases ER70 Cable Car label. I didn think they broke it down by label.

If I had one I don't think I would bother to get it graded since over 90% are coming back 70.

That's interesting. Only 65% of PCGS coins have received 70's and they've certified roughly the same number of coins.

That's exactly why they will never be as sought-after as the 95w. The majority of the enhanced proofs are grading 70.

Welp, here's some happy news for everyone who's grousing about the greedy flippers who bought the coin for $60 and sold it unopened for $300, $700, $1200.

Tonight, on eBay, opened raw ones are going for $1800. Not asking price, actual sale price.

At those levels, it would take a stronger person than I to hold onto one. And to think that I made fun of someone for offering to swap one for a low-MS slabbed double eagle.

I think the enhanced reverse proof have quite a bit of frosting that hides a lot of stuff that would exclude a regular proof from getting a 70. That said, I don't have a real explanation why 90% of NGC submissions are grading 70s while PCGS is grading at around 65-70% unless one or both is just an early aberration between the two of them. they've only gotten through about 2% of the mintage so there's a long way to go and from what I understand NGC did also grade a 68. I don't trust the tpgs numbers unless it's been up a while.

And yeah I'm holding out for $2000 if it doesn't get there I'm keeping it if it hits or breaks $2000 I'm selling it.

I don't think it will break $2k but I didn't think it would break $1200 or $1500 either so what do I know. Lol

You guys are aware the 70's are skewed as large dealers can specify 70 min and 69's don't get counted?
