A friend of mine says he can read the words Sultan and Hind. He said it is most likely Indian, likely Moghul. I hope that helps any.
It does have the look. My friend is not a coin collector, but comes from Pakistan and is multilingual. I'm trying to convince him to collect coins.
Might want to also check Afghanistan. Numista is basically useless for these due to the variation by mint and missing issues. Good luck. I picked up something similar within the last year. it weighs 9.14g. It was unidentified by the seller but I labeled it as Afghanistan - Abdur Rahman (1297-1319AH) 1880 - 1901
Reddit suggested "Appears to be a 1 rupee coin from the Maratha empire in India." But you are right Numista has issues....
Since it is a hammered coin the importance of the planchet is probably based more on weight than shape.
The oblong coin has the appearance of a 'railroad track' coin - I'm sure kids the world around try that 'trick' at some time
zeno.ru can identify it, almost surely. The picture would need to be redone to their specifications: The coin must be taken out of the plastic holder (that’s obligatory!) Both sides of the coin are to be scanned (obligatory!) White background is preferable. White background is preferable. Desired resolution is 600dpi (for smaller coins 1200dpi would be better) Desired compression quality for JPG images – no less than 70%. Short but clear guide How to Scan or Photograph Coins at eBay.com.
It's not getting cracked out - I bought it for the slab. Scanning is a terrible way to image a coin. The higher the relief the worse it is.
If you have it in a slab, then it is already attributed. Is this a guessing game? It is obvious that it is an Indian coin, or from somewhere in that part of the world.
The alphabet per the thread title is Arabic. This is not my area of expertise at all, but I imagine the language of the coin is more likely Persian or Urdu than Arabic.
I simply said non-Western. The not Thai is a Reddit joke - sometimes every 5th topic is "what is this" with one of King Rama's coins. I didn't believe it was Tibet because it didn't match any Tibettian coins.
