I'll always have a soft spot for this Emperor his was the first Ancient coin I ever bought. This is my 3rd coin from the HT mint.. 9... Jaime II Aragon 1291-1327 Dinero (Billon) Approx 18mm diameter - 1.17gr Obverse - Crowned portrait facing left..Legend around ARA - GON Reverse - Double cross..Legend around IACOBUS REX Mint Jaca...Cru-364 My first Purchase of Medieval coinage. 8... Castulo, Spain AE As. 30 mm, 22g. 76-45 BC. ISCER SACAL, youthful male head right. CAST SOCED, sphinx right. Burgos (2008) 709; Ripolles 905; Villaronga 14. Another first, picking up this quite rare chunk of Iberic Copper. 7... ANTONINUS PIUS. 138-161 AD. Æ Sestertius (33mm, 26.75 g.) Struck 159/160 AD. Obverse..ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P XXIII, laureate head right Rev. PIETATI AVG COS IIII SC, Pietas standing left holding globe, Faustina Junior as Pietas standing left, between Faustina Minima, Lucilla & holding baby Fadilla. RIC III 1031 Another first!....My first ever Roman Sestertius...These are addictive! 6... Spain, Bolskan (Osca). Circa 150-100 BC. AE Unit (10.35 gm, 24mm). Obverse: Bearded head right; dolphin behind. Reverse: "BOLSKAN" in Celt-Iberian in exergue, rider on horse right, holding spear; star behind. CNH 8; SNG BM Spain 734; SNG Copenhagen 325. VF. I just love the style of these coins.... 5... Avanti Deva (Varttideva) 1164-1171 A.D. Obverse- Goddess Ardochsho/Lakshmi seated facing in half lotus position, with Nagari legend 'A' left/'Va nti' right Reverse- King standing facing and sacrificing at altar.Nagari legend 'Deva' bottom right. Not much known about this ruler..He was the son of Paramanuka (1154-64 A.D.)Who was in turn the son of my last dated coin Jayasimha (1128-54 A.D.) Very difficult to find this king especially with a good attributable legend. 4... Nerva AR Denarius. Rome, AD 97. Obverse..IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR POT, laureate head right Reverse..COS III PATER PATRIAE, Priestly emblems: simpulum, aspergillum, guttus, and lituus. RIC 24; RSC 48. 3.12g, 17mm, 6h. Near Very Fine. From a private Swiss collection. This was a quite an important coin for me as it completed my 5 good emperors set... 3... Plotina, AE18 of Gordus-Julia, Lydia. 98-117. Magistrate Poplios. Obverse..ΠΛΩTEINA CEBACTH, draped bust right Reverse..EΠI ΠOΠΛIOY ΓOΡΔHNΩ, Zeus seated left, holding patera and sceptre. BMC 18.....Ref wildwinds(thanks) Great help from sharp-eyed Finn235 (thanks) This also completed the 5 good emperors wives... 2... MARIUS. Romano-Gallic Emperor, 269 AD. IMP CM AVR MARIVS AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right. VICTORIA AVG, Victory standing left, holding wreath and palm. RIC#17...Mint Trier? Again great help from Finn235...A rare Emperor/Usurper that I didn't feel I would be able to afford for quite a while, especially in this condition.. 1... EGYPT, Alexandria. Antoninus Pius. AD 138-161. BI Tetradrachm (23mm, 11.94 g, 12h). Dated RY 12 (AD 148/149). Obverse..Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right.. Reverse..Nilus reclining left, holding reed and cornucopia from which emerges a Genius; Iς (for 16 cubits) above, crocodile below, (date) around. Köln 1594; Dattari (Savio) 2294; K&G 35.426; Emmett 1413.12. Dark gray-brown surfaces. VF. Ex Hermanubis Collection (Classical Numismatic Group Electronic Auction 377, 29 June 2016), lot 269. My first Tetradrachm with the added bonus of a great provenance thanks to BobL's sharp eyes..These are also going to be very addictive!
Very nice 2019 collection, @Spaniard ! I’ve always admired the Spanish/Celtic coins. The illustration style is somewhat modern and Expressionistic. I wonder if Picasso was inspired by them.
Some great coins in your diverse group, looks like you had a good buying year. I like your novel way of displaying the ten, well done. There all nice but the Nerva and Castula are standouts. Congrats.
A nice and very diverse selection of coin! For me, especially the Bolskan AE unit with the nice Celt-Iberian portrait has a ton of eye appeal. Also, congrats on finding a nice Marius. That's a pretty coin of an emperor who is notoriously hard to come by.
Excellent coins. I agree with you--I put #1 and #2 in that same order. That is a very good portrait of Marius. My #3 would be your #6--I like those Spanish AE.

Your #1 is lovely, but the two I want most are #2 and #3 - both great portraits and hard to get! (Would love to see larger photos of your top 3...)
I like #2 and #3 as well, but #1 has to be my favorite. In a sea full of junky Alexandrian A-Pi tets with one problem or another, that one is a real gem.
