Hi all, I have this Constans II "hut" coin and I was going to give this to a friends daughter who has started to collect coins as I thought it would be a nice addition to her 50p's and Victorian Half pennies I have given her. I am now retired and not a lot of money coming through but I don't mind giving it to her if it was worth £10 or even £15 but this morning I found this site selling the exact coin for £105.00 is this realistic or is it a chancer trying their luck? I have no idea of the value but for that price, I would keep it and give her another I have. , any comments would be gratefully received. The Sondermann coin is in much better condition and "condition is everything". I think your coin is priced correctly at around 10 to 15 pounds (and the young collector-to-be will probably be thrilled to have it, especially if you tell her the history around this genuine 1600 year old artefact).
Your coin is in the US $20 range and would be a great and undoubtedly well-received gift for a young collector.

The coin from MA-shops is in a much better state of preservation than the one you are considering gifting. The MA coin is also being offered at retail which tends to be higher priced than what you would find in an auction and certainly higher than what you might consider getting if you were to sell that same coin as a collector. Your coin is in the $20-$30 range but is still a great coin with an historically interesting reverse. I am sure the giftee will love it.
I like the type - I think it would be a great gift and a way to encourage a budding interest in ancient coins. When I was six our neighbor gave me two coins - a Nero tetradrachm of Alexandria and a denier of Bohemund of Tripolis, a thirteenth century Crusader state. Kind of got me started in the hobby and I had some fun attributing them.
I agree with the others. Your coin is nice but not nearly as nice as the one on ma-shops. I think your friend's daughter would really enjoy it. I do not have a "hut" coin myself yet.
Well, thank you, everyone. I have gathered info for the young lady and put it all in a folder for her and get her mind working overtime with it no doubt. Thanks, everyone for your advice. I am a modern coin man (British First day coin covers are my weakness) I am now going to get into the Roman coins I see.
