I found this 1953 Lincoln cent with an extra something and honestly dont know what it is or what to call it
Looks like a die chip under the RT. Posting photos of the entire coin (both sides) and closeups of the area in question is the best way for us to determine what you have.
The RT die chip is known for that date. They're tougher to find than the later-date BIE die chips, and more interesting, imo. I believe the discoloration above the 3 is a stain, like that below Liberty.
I took your comments seriously and did some research. I contacted JC Stevens from the website cuds-on-coins.com and sent some photos. It might be a stage 1 which he had no photos of. I got really excited and had to mention this to someone who would think it was as cool as I did. So thank you.
I emailed jc Stevens owner of cuds-on-coins.com and he confirmed that it was a stage 1 and put it on his website. I know you probably don't care but I was really excited as it was my first real find of any kind and had to share with someone. So thank you.
We care! It's always nice to see one of Coin Talk's members get some recognition for putting some effort into our hobby.
