They were gone so fast it was insane. A few people I know told me in less than 2 minutes their order was rejected. At least I didn't want one. They're ugly.

If I saw bidding wars erupting over the Buffalo News Paper each evening, I might eventually be tempted...

Lol. To compare buying a coin to resell to a bread shortage situation is... interesting at best. Please make sure to never buy a coin from a dealer, since all dealers buy coins to resell for a profit. Actually, make sure to never pay over face value for a coin, ok?

Mike Meezak from HSN had close to 1000 of these for sale.
Others have had 50 or more.
For those that wanted one... you needed to be proactive.
So if you weren't, you probably missed out. Stop blaming people like @jwitten , because he was.
Go to HSN, or EBAY, etc... to complain about the real problem !!!

No, I'm not bitter...but I have officially re-named this coin as the "Racketeer Dollar".

READ the rules, political comments are not allowed.

I'd a been bummed for sure...but, in this case there isn't a thing you can do about it unless you have thousands to spend to buy one, and I was prepared for defeat. I realized right away that 30K coins is a drop in the bucket. My first thought was that as soon as the 12 noon hits; the website will crash and burn - which is basically did. I do have to admit though, I did a "happy dance" - I never win at anything...my dogs just stared at me!

I had 2 browsers working at the same time, IE was slower, Google Chrome worked better, glad I used both because IE kept getting the "oops" and the other went through..........the phone lines never worked

The mint put the one per household limit in order to try and stop all the big $$ people/flippers from buying them. I believe they tried to get more into the hands of collectors. Unfortunately, those big $$/flippers don't really care about the intention.

That being said, the amount of money people are spending on this coin is insane. Looks to be averaging ~$1500 today.

Anybody who knew and certainly anyone who knows now how much this coin would sell for on the aftermarket would buy one to re-sell. Collectors, non-collectors, homeless people. Everybody. I don't understand why we'd pick on one person who admitted to flipping some. We know this went on big time. I bet flippers bought them at 10 to 1 to collectors.

So HSN had 1/30th of the population to begin with. It had to have been promised to them in advance.

No it didn't. Anyone who was willing to spend the money could have been buying them up for $500-1000 or more on the aftermarket and have buy orders advertised around for significant profit to who ever decided to take their offer. The only thing limiting others from doing the same was money and desire

None on HSN, 992 on shopCSNtv.com from Mike Mezack. How did he get 992 at RP70? He must've had many, many more in order to get 992 RP70's!

I did mine through PCGS on line. Had to join, then paid $85.00 for all the bells and whistles. Just looked on their web page and mine is in "QA".

I've submitted to NGC many times. It's not terrible but it's a process as you'd expect and costs more than most people realize just for the sake of having to ship and insure to get them down there and back. Then whatever add-ons you decide to get. On these, the additional cost obviously doesn't matter. You have to be a member is the first step. Its much more economical to piggy back with someone else if you can.
