I built a type set some years back and high-graded out a '28 Peace dollar in AU... I see big numbers for value on the PCGS site. What is an actual value going to run? I will be selling it soon. thanks! art
Thanks for that! I paid way less, but on closer scrutiny just now it may not be more than a very strong XF... Pictures are taken, just downloading a couple weeks worth at once and it is a slow process... art
pictures... Not happy with the photos, but I never am... The first is doctored with enhanced contrast and color tweaking. The rest are completely as they came from the camera. Note the blow-up of tiara details... It shows the doubling of the VAM2 variety.
After a careful look last night I decided two things; I like Peace dollars less than I did before... They are no fun to grade! I think it is a solid XF+, but AU is doubtful. AUthenticity is of no concern to me because I know the history of the coin for most of its existence. thanks for any insights! art
I think it could go AU-53 , they are notoriusly hard to grade , ie week strikes and all . How's the luster , by your pictures it's hard to tell . rzage
I would call the luster far better than average. It is in a 2x2 and I hate to remove it... The plastic does nothing to enhance... Any ideas on taking a representative picture of "luster"? art
I paid $409 for my AU 1928 about a year ago. I like collecting Peace Dollars and I like grading them because its a challenge. I may put together another set soon.
I love peace dollars, I'm two away from having a nice MS set. This one I'd call it XF-45. It's hard with the tone like the way it is for me to be comfortable in my grade.
Tater, we always seem to like the same sets. I thought I was close to finishing my MS set, but trust me you are much closer. What are the last two you have left?
