I've bought some coins on Ebay, but its a place that you should use extreme caution and know what you're doing. I've never dealt with Heritage but have heard alot of good things about them.
good to know . . . Now . . . do you think you get better deals at Bowers and Merena or Heritage? and also are there any other auction houses that you buy from? (aside from Ebay of course).
Best deals on Ebay(caution is advised using ebay), but I like Heritage better. Heritage has the best archives by far. Never used Bowers and Merena, but I have heard good things about them.
I don't buy from anyone any more as I no longer collect coins. But in the past I have bought from just about everyone. And there is no such thing as getting the best deals from any single company. The deal you get on any given coin varies every single time with every single seller. You have to be the one to be able to recognize a deal when you see one - regardless of who you are buying the coin from. In other words - you have to know your coins.
I second that I have also bought from each and every one of those sellers and more often than not have got deals
Bowers and Merena is also internet bidding website, but don't have as many auctions as heritage. Photos are not quite as good as heritage, both are very reputable places. Recently, I've seen some coins that appeared to be overgraded at heritage though.
I hear this a lot, it's a clever saying but if you're not buying the slab grade then why buy any coin unless you have the talent to grade a coin on your own? Who of us has that talent or time? Then when you get a coin, wouldn't you slab it to protect it? Then when you want to sell your coins, who would buy a coin from a person ungraded when the seller says its a MS or PR grade?
