I got this one from a good friend. Please help me determine where it is from. We both believe it is Persian. Looks and feels silver how much, I do not know. A beautiful XF coin in my opinion. Thanks Tom
yes it is persian from Iran which was once Persia BTW i am on the light side its the others who are on the dark side
My friend wants to sell me this coin for $20 are you sure that it is not silver? It really looks like a silver coin. I have owned many large world copper nickel coins and this is feels and looks more like a large silver coin.
its a 1933 the way i read it 1311 islamic calendar KM 1131 XF 25 but i still think the coin is cleaned 25g and 82.5% silver
I thought is was early 1900's but I wasn't too sure. Thanks for the ID help Spock. You are an awesome guy. What is an aprox value of this coin.
The problem with that theory is that it is dated 1311 in the Persian Solar version of the Muslim calendar, which equates to 1932, several years before the reign of the last Shah began. Checking that date we find KM#1131, 25g of .828 silver ASW .6655 oz. Mintage 4,527,000; $12F, $18 VF, $25 XF, $50 Unc. in the 2008 20th Century Krause. I'd grade it AU cleaned, net XF. The date is at the very bottom of the side without the lion, which Krause shows as the obverse. In 1976 Iran temporarily adopted a monarchial calendar system using the year 2535. I guess if I typed faster Spock1k wouldn't have beat me to the punch.
