This is my latest coin carving, a recarved 1893 columbian half dollar, the subject is a young sailor of that time [1893]...

As usual I am truly amazed at your abilities. I hope you don't quit carving coins anytime soon.

I keep coming to the point of slowing way down or changing over to knife and gun engraving, but find myself back coin carving again..

I saw a Bill Zach nickel at a coin show today. The seller was busy, but I recognized the quality of the work. I will get back Sunday and try to talk to the seller and see what it's title is.

Do you ever take "time-lapsed' pics to show the progress of the engraving? I would love to see ones of the one you just posted, to see where you started and how you developed the final engraving.

Truly a work of art! :thumb:

    Ribbit :)

I don't own one of BillZach's Hobos YET. I really like his style and the quality of the carvings. BillZach is only one of several excellent carvers currently working.

Today at an art exhibit at the ANA Summer Seminar I ran into Joe Paonessa who also carves Hobo Nickels. I bought one of his nickels. I'll post a pic later in another thread.

    Nice

The Columbian makes a nice donor coin. The work is great as always.
I have a few of his works and love to show them to friends who stop by.
