2021 is the year the silver eagle will get a redesign, does anyone have plans to stop collecting them by 2021?

Nary a thought of doing so.

A new design will spark even more interest.

Well, I already have, as I already have the specimens I want (proof, reverse proof, etc. - they are beautiful, but I don't need all of them). Whether or not I get the new one will depend on the final artwork - haven't seen it yet. :(;)

Yeah, but based on recent renderings of other prospective offerings, I feel pretty confident I will not be getting one.:hilarious::jawdrop:

On one hand it'll be refreshing to get a new design on the eagle. On the other hand... Let's hope the mint does a good job with this one.

EDIT: Just read up on the changes and apparently it's just a reverse redesign.
Apparently the gold eagles are getting a reverse change too. Hopefully it's gonna be something well designed.

They should overhaul both obv. and rev. every two years. After 30+
plus years of the Walker design I am ready for something, anything
different. If the current engravers can't design something pleasing
to the eye, then open up the Judd reference guide to Pattern Coinage.
Dozens of opportunities here for eye catching designs. The Canadians,
Chinese and others change designs every few years. Same could go for
the AGE with the St. Gaudens design. I like the designs but after 30+
they are tiresome for this collector. End of rant!

I have never been impressed by the reverse to be honest, the eagle is beautiful, however, I always thought something more with it would be nice. Similar to the Walking Liberty Half Dollar reverse would be nice. The obverse is beautiful of course and I still plan to collect them year after year.

Wait a minute! What if a "so-called" new design is a 35th Anniversary Limited Edition Special First Strike struck at the Denver Mint by potheads and it has a mintage of just 25,000 which is limited to one per county in each state? Then would you continue your SAE collection?

The sad part of Chris's parody is that the mint actually put that strategy into place already. That's where his rant came from. :banghead:

Depends how long the lines are to buy said ASE. Will the show
promoter serve pizza those in line?;);)

It's my understanding that Mike Mezack will be serving beer & wings to everyone in line, and he will even hold your ticket while you are eating.

As usual, Mike is going above and beyond with the catering. Holding
my ticket while I chow down and washing it down with some cold
brewski proves what a leader and host MM is. Sort of straying off topic
a little, what does the forum think of Rick Tomaska peddling repatriated
gold from Europe? I'm not familiar with cert. gold prices, but with the
infomercial presentation, kind of reeks of Mezak.
