Went to see King Tutankhamun in London this week. Unusually they allow photography. Here are my pics: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ahala_rome/albums/72157711987136357 A few sample pics in low resolution here: (higher res and many more pics in the linked album)
Really excellent pics, Andrew. Thanks for sharing. The level of preservation is amazing. Is this a game board of some type? EDIT: I just saw your caption.
I'd love to see that exhibit but it's not in the cards so I appreciate your virtual tour. Excellent photos!
Thanks for sharing your pics. It reminded me of a “war” between Christies’auctions and the Egyptian government last summer about this bust of Tutankhamun. https://www.theguardian.com/culture...old-at-auction-for-47m-despite-egypt-protests
I photographed about 15 pieces of jewellery if you check the link - the few pics above are just a small sample. link: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ahala_rome/albums/72157711987136357
I remember seeing this in the US some 10 or 15 years ago, would love to see it again as an adult. Glad to see the opportunity is still there, great photos.
Terrific photos, Andrew. Like @Alegandron , I saw Tut's U.S. roadshow in the 1970s and loved it. In the intervening few years, I'd forgotten the exceptional preservation of the artifacts. Of course, it reminds me of something else from the late 1970s:
There is some cool stuff in that travelling display. But, it is only a tiny fraction of the Tut treasure. There is a whole floor of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo dedicated to Tut, including the famous gold face mask. It is truly a sight to behold.
What an incredible exhibit! Thank you for sharing the photos Andrew. I would love to go to Egypt and see the Valley of the Kings, Pyramids of Giza, and the treasures from King Tut's tomb.
I likewise saw the traveling exhibit years ago when it made it to Dallas. Magnificent specimens to behold! Kudos to the Egyptian government for continuing this fabulous exhibition, for those of us who cannot make it to Cairo.

I have been to Egypt years ago and can't wait for the new museum in Cairo to open its doors, hopefully next year
