I've got several (mostly from the 40's) that are 4.6 4.7 grams and my scale is accurate I haven't really looked into it just stuck a pin in it and put them away.

All nickels including the silver are supposed to be 5 grams, the mint has a tolerance level of above abd below weight but I cant remember what it is for nickels.

That 1942 nickel is type 1. No silver content

Even though wartime nickels had a different composition, they weighed in the same range. There are no RPMs after 1989 as they started engraving them on the die itself. Jim

Mint weight and tolerances are for uncirculated coins as they were designated by the mint to check on their production and metal use for government reports. Judging whether a coin from circulation is truly over or under weight is difficult because of the wear and is not of much of any value. Uncirculated can be of higher value. IMO. Jim

What do you think about the dime?

There are no RPMs after 1989 as the mm was part of the design on the master die with the single squeeze hubbing. For same reason, there should be no overdate, thus no zeroes over nines. Paddyman98 is correct on others, IMO, Jim
