Just watching the Deadlist Catch reruns, and NCM has revealed a commercial of a "$20 Silver Certificate" commemorating the 7th Anniversary of the 9/11. Or to put it bluntly, they made a non-legal tender Liberia $20 slab of metal coated in a .999 "Silver Leaf" commemorating the 7th anniversary of 9/11 by connecting $20 to the addition of 9 and 11 on one side and $20 on the other side. Tasteless. Truely tasteless.
I saw that ad also. From Liberia or something?? I guess they had to do it there because of lawsuits? I dunno. I got sucked into buying the 5th anniversary coin NCM offered, believing a portion was going to go to the families of those affected. Funny. That must be why they were trying to make me pay twice for it for almost 2 years. I thought I read somewhere there was a class action suit against them for advertising that the silver was "recovered from the vaults at gound zero" when it was not. I also thought that those pirates were getting it for profiteering at the expense of a sympathetic American (and worldwide) public. I will never buy anything from National Collector's Mint again, and I encourage all collectors to not only boycott them, but spread the word!
Were they the same outfit that made the coins with the popup thingy on the coin? "Layered" in 2mils of fine silver"?
