@dadams and @Valentinian , both of you do make great points, and it's not like these copperplates are unique....you can actually go online now and find about a dozen hand painted and black and white original copperplate prints of these on sale....not to mention about a dozen antique original copies of the entire book these plates came from. And it's not like there aren't high res scans of these plates all over the internet preserved for posterity, which can be used to create new copies. You guys reminded me of a conversation I once had with a friend of mine who was debating whether he should wear a vintage jacket or leave it in the closet to preserve. I told him, "It's not like no one knows what a 60s jacket looks like and this is the last one. You only live once. Enjoy it before you end up dead and the next owner decided to wear it and enjoy it for you."
