  1. I don't know much about coins but I like the looks of this...even though it may not be worth much I'm going to keep it.

You have a good eye! Nice coin to keep. You should get yourself a Whitman 1940-to date, folder and start a complete set. That's a nice coin to start with. I'm assuming (and I probably shouldn't), you don't have one.

My advice is to pick up a couple. You’ll find as you start to go along that you’ll be in a mode of constant upgrading. In the press in folders the holes become oversized and your coins will fall out. If you buy a Dansco album you will be in better position to swap coins out with better ones. They are around $30 but you get to see both sides of your coins. That appeals to me.

You sound like a typical coin enthusiast. In short order you’ll have several folders and albums. I keep my finest coins in Dansco albums. I keep a couple folder sets for various denominations so I can group coin events. For instance:

    • Dansco for my finest Jefferson Nickels
    • Whitman folder for my circulation set of Jefferson Nickels (3)
    • Whitman folders for a 2015 Jefferson Nickel challenge

I use both to group my coins relative to the event/situation. Cost of album/folder relative to the value of the coins in each group.
